Coping With Deployment

Deployment is something that Army families live with. It's part of your life if your spouse is a member of the armed services. This month Army OneSource is featuring a focus on deployment and return. Maintaining a family routine and tending to your needs or the needs of family members can be very difficult when a spouse or partner has been deployed. You may experience separation anxiety, fear, anger, loneliness, and other strong emotions during their deployment.

By knowing what to expect, learning to recognize the signs that you are having trouble coping, and knowing where to turn for help might make this difficult time a little easier. The return and reunion with families and partners can be just as stressful -- sometimes more so. The difficulties and strains of return can be surprising and sometimes painfully disappointing to military families. But there are steps you can take to make the transition back as joyful and stress-free as possible.
